"Mama who had a beautiful birth via C-section"
Today, we would like to introduce you to Leandra Higgins.
Leandra, thank you so much for giving us the chance to learn more about your birth story, I know you were a little timid sharing because it is different than some of our other birth stories but I am so excited. I know that your story will help other mamas!
Can you give us a quick run down of your birth experience?
I had to have a scheduled c-section due to breech presentation but our little baby Emmett is healthy!
What were your greatest challenges in preparing for your birth BEFORE joining Werk Your Birth program?
The unknown and really any other information regarding what to expect, what actually happens to your body during labor etc. Providers don’t give you much information. I learned everything from courses and social media.
What made you decide to join Werk Your Birth?
Chanel’s Instagram page. The tips in your posts and reels were so informative. When I found the page I knew that I would be taking the birth course.

Okay, so tell us about your birth? Walk us through your story!
We found out baby boy was breech around 34 weeks. I had asked my OB if she could tell he was head down, she said he felt big but positioning should be fine and scheduled an ultrasound the following week to be sure.
Sure enough he was breech, had been breech since my 20 week apt most likely. I was told we could do an ECV or schedule a c section. I literally was given no other options. In hindsight I wished I asked more questions, but from all my research online I knew I would have a c section as breech vaginal births truly aren’t supported in a hospital setting here in MA.
We heavily debated an at home birth, but we decided on hospital setting because my husband just wasn’t as comfortable as I was birthing at home.
Anyways, I decided ECV was too risky and scheduled my c section for 4/25/22.
Morning of I was very anxious. I had taken another class about c sections specifically but was in the room prior to going to OR for what seemed like a million years. Once in OR and on the table I was just more excited to meet my babe than anything and the nurses and anesthesiologist were all angels thank goodness.
We had no complications and overall just felt pressure. Baby was born at 10:04 am weighing 9lbs and 2 oz. He was 22 inches long.
How did Werk Your Birth positively impact your birthing experience?
It put my mind at ease when I was preparing myself for labor and delivery. The tips with holding the ice and breathing was such a great technique I hope to use in the future.
What has this program done for you (and your partner)?
Given us peace of mind and provided us with valuable information we likely wouldn’t have gotten elsewhere.
What would you tell a mama who is hoping to prepare for birth?
To follow her instincts and listen to her body!
Before we end, what would you tell someone who is considering investing in the Werk Your Birth program?
To do it, it’s worth every penny
