"Mama who had an unmedicated TWIN birth!"

Today, we would like to introduce you to Brittany Lister.

Brittany, thank you so much for giving us the chance to learn more about your birth story! I am so passionate about this community and helping other mamas feel empowered so I really appreciate your support.

So Brittany, when did you give birth and how?

I had an unmedicated birth on July 13 and not to one baby but two! We had twin girls!

What were your greatest challenges in preparing for your birth BEFORE joining the Werk Your Birth program?

Not knowing what to expect. Channeling my fear and anxiety. Trusting my body and my capabilities to delivery healthy babies. Knowing my options, rights, and how to advocate for myself and for the type of labor I desired.

What made you decide to join Werk Your Birth?

Initially, I was seeking doula services but that was not an option since we were both due around the same time.

To learn more about how you and your partner can become prepared for birth, check out my virtual birth coaching here.

Okay, so tell us about your birth? Walk us through your story!

I delivered two beautiful and healthy girls (fraternal twins) at 41 weeks!!! Ava Rose Jean was born at 11:46am on July 13th, she was 7lbs 9oz, and Ever Sky Ann born was 6lbs 14oz born at 12:03pm on July 13th (17 minutes a part).

Prior to my delivery I took the Werk Your Birth course. In preparation for my birth, I prepared my hospital bag was sure to include my birth affirmations cards, pictures, diffuser, essential oils, music playlist, and my TENS unit.

Once I made it to 40 weeks I started to incorporate natural ways to induce my labor at home. Three days prior to me going into labor, I did some curb walking exercises, ate Dates, drunk some Pink Stork Labor Tea, and used Evening Primrose Oil capsules.

The morning of July 13th, I woke up around 6am and felt a lot of pressure and thought I needed to have a bowel movement. When I went to the bathroom, I had a bloody show and at that time I took a picture and sent it to my midwife (Tina Rowe at Heavenly Hands Birthing Center) and to my doula (Angie Heffner). Shortly afterwards after the pressure got more and more intense, I tried showering and still wasn't feeling any relief I decided to go ahead and head to the birthing center. I arrived to the birthing center at 11am and delivered twin A (Ava) at 11:46am.I had ended up doing most of my labor in the comfort of my home. When I arrived to the birthing center I was completely dilated, 100% effaced, and the baby A was positioned at a station 2! Both girls was delivered head up, face up (facing my spine), and then I delivered both placentas afterwards. For twin A, I was on all fours and for twin B, I was supine (while twin A was laying on my chest).

How did Werk Your Birth positively impact your birthing experience?

Werk Your Birth positively impacted my birthing experience by preparing me in knowing exactly what to expect during each stage of labor. The course explained each stage of labor accurately. For instance, I knew I was in the transition phase when I got to the point that I started crying and saying "I can't, please just pull her out"...At that moment I reminded of my video and what I recalled from the course. It was at that point that I had tapped into my super natural power and prayed to God for strength. The whole labor process, I kept imagining my body working and pushing my babies out. I kept imagining holding my babies.

What has this program done for you (and your partner)?

This program has provided me with the ultimate power....knowledge!

Were there any results you weren't expecting that pleasantly surprised you?

My girls are three months, and I am still in shock that I actually did it!! I delivered 2 FULL terms babies 100% naturally!! Like I really did it!

What would you tell a mama who is hoping to prepare for birth?

You can do it! Trust your body and the process! Labor is mostly mental.

Before we end, what would you tell someone who is considering investing in the Werk Your Birth program?

Do it!!! Take Notes! Best investment I have ever made!
